2 Line Cordless Phones
In a world where everyone has a cell phone, a landline is slowly becoming something only businesses use. Even so, there are benefits to a fixed phone line. Better reception, better rates and dependability are all features of a dedicated landline. Instead of a phone that only supports one phone number, a 2 line cordless phone allows for two phone lines in one unit. This is a great alternative for large families and small home based business.
Is a dual line cordless phone right for me?
A 2 line cordless phone proves to be a better option due to the mobility and the convenience it allows. The basic cordless phone consists of a base and a handset. Upgrades include adding two handsets and bases or upgrading to a model with an answering machine built in. A 2 line cordless phone offers the ability to be using line one or line two from the same handset. With multiple handsets, each unit has the capability to place and retrieve calls from each individual handset. Most multiple handset phones are expandable and can accommodate additional lines if the dual lines prove to be limiting. Dual line cordless phones will cost more than a single line cordless but the cost is worth it for the multi line option.
2 Line Cordless Phones - Other Considerations
The downside of a 2 line cordless phone is weaker reception depending on the strength of the signal, compared to a corded phone. Advances in technology have improved the sound quality and limited the interference previously associated with cordless phones. Even with those advances corded phones still are considered to have better clarity and reception.
The benefits to having more than one line whether for family or business use outweigh the frustrations of sharing one line with the kids or missing important business calls. 2 line cordless phones can be purchased online or at most major chain electronics retailers. There are many styles, colors and added feature options available when finding the right phone for your business or family. When choosing your 2 line cordless phone, you should look for:
• At least a 2.4 GHz or better frequency; anything lower may sound okay but it not "secure; in fact some weaker phones can allow your conversation to be picked up by neighborhood baby monitors
• Features like an answering system in the handset or caller I.D. are also optimal – these make it easier to see who is calling or retrieve messages without running to the base unit of your 2 line cordless phone
